Cheese Wedges
Award-winning cheese wedges, handmade and graded by experts at our artisan creamery. All our cheese is produced onsite at the historic Pikehall Farm, in the Peak District village of Hartington.
A wedge of cheese may seem like a humble block, but once you’ve experienced the flavour sensation our range provides, your tastebuds will never be the same.
All of our cheese wedges are crafted with love, using traditional methods that we’ve adapted from over a century of innovation. This comes through in the flavour, far surpassing anything you’ll find on supermarket shelves.
But with so many types of cheese to choose from, how do you know which is for you? And what makes a cheese wedge a better choice than our large cheese wheels? Let us explain.
What is a Cheese Wedge?
With cheese wedges, the clue is in the name. These are triangular blocks of cheese, the traditional shape you think of when you picture it in your head. Our cheese wedges are almost always 160g, giving you plenty of cheese to enjoy, but not so much that any will go to waste.
We have a wide selection of artisan cheese wedges available. From classic favourites like white stilton to more bold flavours like our King’s Blue, there’s something for all. Whether you’re a cheese connoisseur or trying new flavours for the first time, we guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.
Wedges aren’t the only way to enjoy our cheese. We also have our cheese squares, wrapped up tight in plastic so they last a long time. This is where you’ll find our more adventurous creations, including chocolate & chilli cheese, cranberry & orange peel, and smoke tomato & garlic to name a few.
For events and parties, there are our larger truckles, half-moons, and cheese wheels – no matter how many people you’re catering for, we can help make sure there’s plenty to go around.
When to Buy Cheese Wedges
Because of their smaller size, cheese wedges and squares are usually meant for one person, or a couple that are willing to share. We always encourage our customers to try as many types of cheese as possible; a wedge ensures that you’ll have room for more, and won’t have to commit to a flavour you aren’t too keen on.
As they’re all priced affordably, you can pick up a few wedges at once. Since they keep for a while, there will be no rush to try all at once, and you can pick and choose at your leisure.
Our artisan cheese is also fantastic to cook with. If you want to liven up some of your favourite recipes, and they deserve better than store-bought cheese, a wedge or two will add more flavour than ever before.
But cheese is best when it’s shared. Which is why the best use of our cheese wedges is in our cheese gift hampers.
Cheese Gift Hampers
When we planned out our hampers, our main goal was to provide as many cheeses as possible. This is why we include cheese wedges in our hampers, so they’re the centrepiece but we can also include some incredible cheese accompaniments like biscuits, locally sourced chutneys, and alcoholic beverages without the price getting out of hand.
Although we mostly recommend these as gifts, our cheese hampers are also a great way to get all you need for a cheese tasting. As well as the cheese itself, you get plenty to enjoy it with.
The alternative would be to buy everything separately from us, which costs you more, or buying worse accompaniments from elsewhere. A single hamper can contain up to 7 different cheeses plus accompaniments, giving you more than enough to share with a group.
If you’re hosting a cheese tasting with loved ones (and you should!), this gives you a fabulous selection. And as an added bonus, our hampers are fully customisable, so you can select your favourite flavours that you know everyone will enjoy.
