All Cheese
Award-winning cheese, handmade and graded by experts at our artisan creamery. All our cheese is produced onsite at the historic Pikehall Farm, in the Peak District village of Hartington.
Hidden away at the iconic Pikehall Farm in Hartington, magic is happening.
The word ‘artisan’ is used a lot when talking about cheese, but we’re giving it new meaning with every cheese wedge, cheese wheel, or truckle that we send out.
If you’re a cheese lover, or are looking to give your tastebuds a new experience, we’re here to help. Our range of handmade cheeses is the result of over a century of hard work, innovation, and a love of the craft.
What Makes our Cheese Special
Cheesemaking has changed a lot over the decades. What used to be an art form is now a race between factories trying to make as much cheese as quickly as possible. The cheese you find on the shelves at the local supermarket might taste nice, but once you’ve experienced the real stuff, you’ll breeze past it without a second glance.
Cheese tastes nicer when you do things properly. At Hartington Creamery we blend traditional methods that bring out flavour with modern innovations that keep our cheese fresher for longer, or helps us get it to our customers faster. We also have over 300 cows, the milk we use couldn’t be fresher!
Factory-made cheese loses out on a tonne of flavour. Traditional techniques like stirring by hand, natural ageing, and plastic-free packaging all add up to make our cheese some of the best you’ll ever taste. That’s a Hartington Creamery guarantee.
Don’t just take our word for it, either! Our range is packed with award-winning cheeses, many with multiple awards, so you know you’re in for a treat long before it arrives on your doorstep.
We don’t just make cheese either! We have a broad selection of cheese accompaniments including chutneys, pates, charcuterie, biscuits (made by our friends from Popti!), and alcoholic beverages to enjoy with your cheese.
Cheese Unique to Our Farm
We have cheese that you won’t find in any old cheese shop. That’s because most of our cheeses are PDOs (Protected Designation of Origin), meaning that it can only be produced in a specific place. Our Red Derby, for example, can only be made in Derbyshire.
Another example is our fabulous Hartington Blue Stilton. Stilton can only be produced by four cheese supplies; 3 factories, and our humble farm. That means we’re the only manufacturer of truly artisan blue stilton. It’s a taste and texture you can’t find anywhere else, literally!
Thanks to our UK-wide shipping, anyone can experience PDO cheese that will never end up on their local shop’s shelves. Our cheese is available in wedges, truckles, and cheese wheels, so you can purchase as much as you need, and none will go to waste.
Cheese that Suits All Tastebuds
We hear plenty of people say that they don’t like cheese, but this is like saying you don’t like fruit or bread!
Cheese comes in all forms and flavours, from strong tang to smooth creaminess, there really is something for everyone. If you’re new to cheese, and your experience is limited to the occasional piece of cheddar, you’re in for a treat.
We have plenty of milder cheeses for people who are keen to try new things, but don’t want anything too bold. Our white stilton, for example, is one of the UK’s most popular cheeses for a good reason, and we have some of the nicest you’ll ever try. Although once you do, nothing else will come close!
For the more experienced cheese lovers, we have plenty of iconic flavours that will spice up your cheeseboard. Our Devonshire Gold has a strong flavour and lasting mouthfeel, enhanced by the methods we use to add its iconic orange colour and blue veins. This not only makes it taste amazing, but also makes it stand out when placed next to other cheeses on a board or display.
We also have some much bolder flavours such as our Chocolate and Chilli Cheese or our Cranberry and Orange Cheese squares. These aren’t just random flavours made as a joke, they’re made with as much love and care as any other cheese in our range, and tastes fantastic, if a little bolder than what you may expect.
Whether you’re buying cheese for yourself or a loved one, we have a huge selection, so you can pick and choose your favourites.
