Hartington Creamery is proud to have revived the long-lost art of Traditional Derby cheese, and with Red Derby, our master cheesemakers have gone one step further, pressing and maturing this unique cheese to achieve a creamy, sweet, and gentle flavour.

Handmade in small batches and wrapped in cheesecloth to mature on our farm in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, every half moon is crafted using milk sourced from local farms and time-honoured methods passed down through generations. The result is an exceptional cheese that represents both authentic craftsmanship and sustainable British farming.

Perfect for entertaining, gifting, or cutting into generous wedges for your cheeseboard, Red Derby offers a characterful alternative to Red Leicester — richer, creamier, and unmistakably Hartington. Because this cheese is pressed, it can also be stored for up to three months, just like its Traditional Derby sibling.
