We won again! A quadruple set of wins at the British & Irish Cheese Awards

Following our announcement of a fresh start for our significantly improved online sales! We’re excited to celebrate in a way that showcases our recent success at the Cheese Awards, where we achieved a remarkable quadruple win!

The 2025 British and Irish Cheese Awards is one of the premier exhibitions and competitions for cheese producers in the UK. It focuses on cheeses from England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. The awards cover multiple categories, culminating in the Supreme Champion title. This highly competitive event featured the foremost cheese experts from Britain and Ireland assessing the entries.

We are proud to share that we received four prestigious awards:

1. Our PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) Dovedale Blue, made according to a specific recipe within 50 miles of the River Dove in Derbyshire and Staffordshire, won a Gold award and was also crowned Class Champion! This incredibly popular cheese is creamy and soft, brine-rinded, and lightly veined with blue, reminiscent of some continental cheeses—but, of course, it tastes even better.

2. Our legendary Blue Stilton secured our second Gold award of the day. With only four licensed producers of Stilton remaining, we faced stiff competition from larger rivals who mass-produce cheese. We are proud to be the only true hand-makers of Stilton left in the world. Our methods have remained unchanged since we began making Stilton at our Derbyshire Creamery in 1900. The judges agreed that traditional methods are superior and awarded us another Gold medal.

3. The fourth award of the day went to our unique regional Derbyshire cheese, Sage Derby. Hartington Creamery uses the original Fowler family artisan recipe that dates back to 1670, and we are the only producers of this cheese in its home county of Derbyshire. This cheese features a rich, creamy texture enhanced by layers of sage herbs added into the curd. Unlike other cheeses, the sage is not blended but incorporated into the traditional Derby Cheese.
