Ryan Gee Wins VCA Young Cheesemaker of the Year!
Wins with a Gold for Chocolate & Chilli & a Silver for Shropshire Blue Cheese
We have been on a winning streak lately and at the Virtual Cheese Awards (VCA) we won three prestigious national awards for our cheese and our cheesemaker. Pictured here is our homegrown talent and a 4th generation Hartington cheesemaker Ryan Gee. He follows in the footsteps of his Great Grandfather, Grandparents, and his Uncles all of whom have been Hartington Stilton Makers. Age 23 and after working at our creamery for six years, Ryan has been crowned the much deserved Young Cheesemaker of the Year. Ryan is the future of Derbyshire Stilton making and our creamery. You could say ‘Blue Veins’ runs through his blood
Pictured below left to right, is Ryans family heritage, Great Uncle David Howard, Grandad Des Gee, Great Grandad John Howard, Grandma Margaret Gee, Uncle Andy Gee and Great Grandad Lincoln Gee. This picture was taken at the old Hartington Dairy in front of the trophy cabinet.
